What I Can Help With
Joan supports people in processing their life experiences, developing a deeper understanding of themselves and their inner world, and discovering ways to navigate life with greater ease. Joan works with individuals navigating life transitions and relationship concerns, as well as those experiencing stress, anxiety, overwhelm, or disconnection from themselves. She offers support for processing past trauma, self-exploration, identity development, and healing from experiences of sexualized violence. Whether folks are navigating a specific challenge or seeking a deeper understanding of themselves, Joan strives to create a supportive space for exploration, healing, and growth. She works collaboratively with each person to explore their experiences, identify what matters most to them, and develop goals that feel meaningful and authentic.
My Approach
Joan believes meaningful therapy is rooted in feeling seen, heard, understood, and supported. Her approach is collaborative and grounded in the belief that people are the experts of their own lives. Joan’s practice is relational, person-centred, anti-oppressive, queer-affirming, neuro-affirming, and trauma-informed. She offers an integrative approach, drawing from mindfulness, narrative therapy, parts work, and other modalities to provide support at a pace that feels right for you. She is committed to creating a welcoming and affirming space for people of all identities and backgrounds, with a particular interest in supporting queer, neurodiverse, and marginalized communities. Joan welcomes anyone who feels her approach may be a good fit for them.
About Me
Joan is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and holds a Masters of Education in Counselling Psychology from Memorial University. Since finishing her graduate training, Joan has completed additional education in trauma-informed mindfulness, narrative therapy, the neurobiology of trauma, and parts work. She brings these perspectives together in an integrative and individualized approach, recognizing that each person’s experiences, needs, and goals are unique. Outside of the therapy room Joan enjoys taking care of her plants, going for walks, and getting coffee with friends. The fee for a 60-minute Individual Therapy session with Joan is $165.00. Receipts are provided for insurance reimbursements/tax purposes. Your session may be covered by insurance under the Clinical Counselling provider category.
