Christin is passionate about supporting fellow cancer survivors and their families. Having gone through the experience herself, she understands the challenges that come with it, and is committed to offering emotional support and guidance to help others navigate their journey. Throughout her career, she has had the privilege of supporting students and families through various challenges. Her extensive experience includes working with children and young adults with ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, and other behavioral and emotional difficulties. She specializes in guiding both parents and students as they navigate the complexities of the school system, empowering families to thrive despite these challenges.
My Approach
Christin is trained in trauma-informed care and is deeply committed to understanding the effects of trauma and offering a trauma-informed approach to counseling. Christin subscribes to a client-centered and strength-based approach rooted in the belief that each individual has the inner resources to grow and heal. She will focus on practical, forward-thinking solutions that help you navigate and overcome current challenges. Her methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), are tailored to help you identify patterns, shift negative thoughts, and develop coping strategies that lead to lasting change. Her practice is grounded in respect for all individuals, regardless of their background, culture, or identity. She works to ensure that each person she serves feels valued and understood, providing a safe and inclusive space for growth.
About Me
Christin Watton is a compassionate and experienced counsellor with over 20 years of practice as both a Special Education Teacher and School Counsellor with NLSchools. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Primary/Elementary Education, a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, and a Masters of Education degree in Counselling Psychology. She is in good standing with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), and is a member of the Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists of Canada. With her combination of education, experience, and deep passion for helping others, she is here to support you in your personal journey. Whether you're facing challenges in school, at home, or within yourself, you will be supported to work toward meaningful change and lasting healing. Christin is accepting child and youth counselling clients with evening and weekend availability in-person and virtually. The fee for a 50-minute session is $150. Receipts are provided for reimbursement/tax purposes. Your session can be covered by insurance under the clinical counselling and/or naturopath category.
