Speech Language Pathologists (SLP)
Marlena Hickey
MSc-SLP, R.SLP (C)
(she/her).
Marlena is a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist, graduating from the University of Alberta in 2013. She has experience working with clients across the lifespan from preschool children, school-aged children/youth, to adults. She has worked in a variety of settings including private practice, schools, and public healthcare. She has a special interest in working closely with language delayed preschool children (Late Talkers) and their families, supporting them to make meaningful connections, improve communication, and generalize these skills through fun, play-based interactions. She has completed training in It Takes Two to Talk ® - The Hanen Program ® for Children with Language Delays. Marlena uses a strength-based and neurodiversity affirming approach that focuses on improving interactions and communication using a child's current skills and interests. Building a trusting rapport is her top priority when working with young children and their caregivers.
Marlena is a mother of 3 young children and knows the benefits of supporting children with warmth, kindness, and empowering them to communicate confidently. She also recognizes the concerns of caregivers and strives to work together to create collaborative goals that work for the child and family.
She also has experience in assessing and treating children and adults with social communication differences (ASD), articulation (speech sound) disorders, fluency (stuttering), and voice concerns.
Marlena offers individualized assessment and treatment as well as baby-caregiver play groups.

Stephanie Peddle
M.Sc. R-SLP (C)
(she/her).
Stephanie is a registered Speech-Language Pathologist with a master’s degree in the field from the University of Alberta, and is certified with Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (C). She has over 10 years of experience working with children of all ages in private practice, school system, public healthcare and community environments.
She loves working with children and believes in making speech therapy a fun and enjoyable experience for kids! Stephanie offers a warm and inviting space where therapy is approached with patience, understanding, and enthusiasm to help children feel confident in their communication abilities.
Stephanie strongly believes that building trust and a friendly rapport creates a strong foundation for the therapeutic relationship. She incorporates a flexible and family-centered approach, and understands the importance of including caregivers in the treatment process.
Stephanie specializes in the areas of articulation (speech sounds), phonology (sound patterns), and apraxia (planning & coordination of oral-motor movements). She also has extensive experience in expressive and receptive language, literacy, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
Stephanie offers individualized assessment and treatment sessions, as well as baby-caregiver play groups.

Occupational Therapist (OT)
Hilary Walsh
R. OT
(she/her).
Hilary is a registered occupational therapist and a qualifying dance movement therapist who holds a master’s in public health. She has experience working with clients across the lifespan and has worked in a variety of settings including private practice, schools, public healthcare, and community. Creativity and play have always been the inspiration and driving force of her career. She believes that play and movement is important across the lifespan for all forms of wellbeing. She is passionate about her continued learning around child development, nervous system regulation, and embodied approaches to therapy. She takes a trauma informed approach and aims to strengthen human centred relational interactions within all her work.
In sessions, Hilary hopes to provide a warm, judgement free space where curiosity and understanding
are valued, and the process is creative and collaborative. Hilary is committed to practicing with a neuro-
affirming lens, by continuously learning from neurodiverse voices and lived experiences. Since working
within NL Schools, she has developed a strong passion and skillset of designing adult education sessions
on workplace wellbeing, team development, child development, emotional regulation, and play. Her
experience as an occupational therapist, dance movement therapist, health promotion specialist, and
dance/circus teacher has fine tuned her skills a group facilitator. Hilary offers individualized assessment and treatment as well as groups.
